Current Location: [Planet, System, Dominion, Galaxy, Year]
Interstellar Space, en route to Shalel Sayar, The Brotherhood, Ghost-Wind Galaxy, 436 DY
Dates within the game follow the convention of “Day, Month, Year”. A “DY” (Dominion Year) after a year is a standardized universal convention, by which each galaxy uses the same acronym to refer to different temporal starting points (the foundation of its Dominion). For instance: Lacustrine, part of the Dominion of the Lauma, counts its years from the foundation of the Lauma; while Rahat, a starbase relatively nearby and part of the Dominion of the Brotherhood, counts its years from the foundation of the Brotherhood. Equivalent years are noted in each Dominions wiki entry, and are common knowledge for anyone who often crosses Dominion lines.
- Language (o-ooo)
Requires: Language (ooo) requires Academics oo+
Languages in the Universe are infinitely varied; however, most are also infinitely similar, encountering unintelligible differences only when crossing Dominion lines. That being said, a character with this merit is able to speak, read, write and understand a Dominion’s language in its official dialect or with basic comprehension at the first dot of this merit. At the second dot of this merit the similarities between the planetary dialects not officially used become apparent, and the character gains full comprehension of that Dominion’s language. The third dot of this merit covers familiarity with the Ancient Writings of a Dominion, including any hold-overs from or before the Colony Wars. In addition, a cross-Dominion pidgin language with its basis in the Colony War era, known simply as Trade, is available as a one-dot only merit.
- Oneiromantic Drive Systems (ooo)
Requires: Starship Size ooo
Developed by Changelings for use on Hedge-bound ships, the Oneiromantic Drive system functions by using the dreams of mortal men and women held in stasis-tubes. Using it requires an Oneiromancy Specialty (under Empathy) on the part of the Engineer. The Drive system allows for normal travel through sub-space, but also allows the ship to be piloted through Between Space via the Hedge using standard Hedge navigation rolls.
