Saffron Wind was once a humble farm boy on a verdant and beautiful Jo Lauma planet of Sulis in the Adonai star system. He revered the Gods of the land with his loyal and diligent work. His father instructed him in the art of the bow and the sword when he was thirteen. In Sulius, Yeoman enter an apprenticeship program sponsored by the Education system. He became an apprentice Yeoman to his father, being groomed to both cultivate the land and defend it from bandits and the dangerous beasts.
At age sixteen he was acknowledged by his Province as a Yeoman and gifted his Hunter’s Pistol. He continued his training towards the esteemed rank of Ranger, studying two weapon combat and practicing his targeting skills with the Hunter’s Pistol. It was the eve of the Summer Equinox when the Iron Conquest came, a fleet of lightning fast chrome vessels assaulted his Province. The Elders cried that the Brotherhood had come to conquer them once again, screaming of broken treaties.
But the Elders were wrong. It was far far worse.
Wind was one of many young Yeoman taken that night. But one of the few to survive what came after. His body was injected with strange alchemical fluids and his limbs stretched and muscles sculpted. The craftsman of the Iron Conquest transformed his body while forcing him to chant oaths to the Wyrd, a strange and unknown god to Wind.
Upon arrival to the beautiful madness of Arcadia, he found himself transformed into a solider of the vast Legion of the Iron Conquest. Wielding gun, blade, and fist he traveled the vast Realms of Arcadia and fought in nightmarish battles under the command of an Alien Warlord know simply as the Iron Conquest. It seemed an eternity he served as a martial extension of the Legion. It was when they invaded a Realm of seemly eternal summer that memories of home overwhelmed him, in moments he deserted the Legion and fled, cutting a bloody swath through any Commissar that dared stand in his way.
He was found by a Prophetess of the Void, whom he pledged protection to in exchange for her promise that she knew the path he must take to escape Arcadia. After escaping Arcadia with his Motley he attempted to return home.
But when he returned home he found only fear and suspicion, and his stolen visage having fathered a child with his childhood sweetheart. In a rage he murdered his fetched and burned down the farmstead he had built with the girl who should have been his wife. He was then found by Burning Star, the King of the Summer Court and taken deep to the Freehold of Thousand Leaves. It was herd he was chosen by the Season of Summer and inducted into the Court of Wrath. For 3 months he lived amongst the Lost of this Freehold. However their belief that Arcadia and the Hedge were mystical places deeply disturbed him. They were not Gentry, they were Aliens, and his fellow Freehold members refused to accept the truth.
When his motley came to visit and refuel upon his planet, he went with them. Wind knew they would need a strong protector out in the Void. They were all the family he had left. He now travels the Void upon their vast tree-ship and serves as the strong arm that protects the motley from all physical threats.
